On September 19, Lisi Lake hosted the fourth annual charity run dedicated to supporting wounded military personnel and the raised amount was donated to Wounded Warrior Support Foundation. The Wounded Warrior Support Foundation was founded in 2018 by Silknet to care for the heroic defenders of the homeland and their families. Ambassadors, diplomats, and military attachés actively participate in the Foundation’s initiatives.

Established on the initiative of the Tbilisi Defense Attaché Association (TDAA), this year’s sporting event was exceptionally large-scale and well-attended compared to previous years.

The main sponsor of the event was Silknet, with organization led by the Ministry of Defence of Georgia, the LEPL Defence Volunteer, the Tbilisi Defense Attaché Association (TDAA) and the Wounded Warrior Support Foundation.

The event was supported by TKT.GE, Lisi Lake, Trail Lab, Sheraton Grand Tbilisi Metechi Palace, Mogzauri and Garmin.

Davit Mamulaishvili, General Director of Silknet and the Wounded Warrior Support Foundation – “I would like to say a few words about the history of the marathon – how it all began and how it grew into a tradition. Now in its fourth year, the event has truly become a staple. This is largely thanks to the dedicated efforts of the Ministry of Defence of Georgia and the Tbilisi Defence Attaché Association, who together have successfully established this tradition. Through the diligent commitment and active support of association members – including the military attachés of the United States, the United Kingdom, Slovakia, and Lithuania – alongside the Ministry of Defence, various other embassies have also joined the marathon to help raise funds. To some critics, the raised amount might seem modest, but every single GEL is deeply meaningful to us. More importantly, it is invaluable to our veterans and wounded service members who have served in international missions. Our support extends beyond the service members and veterans themselves to their wives and minor children. Every gesture of support carries immense moral value alongside its material benefit. Having international partners participate makes this support even more profound – it reminds our heroes how deeply valued their contributions are in defending global democracy, peace, and the shared ideals of humanity.

I want to express my sincere gratitude to the military attachés, the association, every individual participant, and the Ministry of Defence. The Ministry remains deeply involved across all stages, from co-funding to providing direct care for families. This initiative stands as a testament to our joint effort to reaffirm our unwavering solidarity with our wounded warriors, and we remain fully committed to continuing this tradition in the years to come.”

Georgian military personnel, wounded and injured service members, volunteer organizations, members of the diplomatic corps, their families, children, and other supporters joined the run.

Participants could choose between three routes: a 3 km fun run, a 7 km medium trial and a 21.1 km half marathon.

The female and male winners (1st–3rd places) of the 7 km and 21.1 km distance races received prizes provided specially for them by the run’s supporters: Sheraton Grand Tbilisi Metechi Palace, Garmin, Gino Paradise, and Mogzauri. Mogzauri also established prizes in a special category for the volunteers who actively assisted the organizers during the marathon. For the fourth year now, the Lisi Lake administration has provided its venue for this sporting event free of charge. Additionally, TKT.GE transfers the full amount collected from registrations – without deducting any service fees – directly to the “Wounded Warrior Support Foundation,” while the company TrailLab provides its services to organize the race in compliance with all standard specifications at no cost.

Registered via TKT.ge with a registration fee of 50 GEL, each participant received a branded t-shirt and a commemorative medal. around 15,000 GEL was raised and fully transferred to the Wounded Warrior Support Foundation’s account.
